Dataset description

<p>This is National Trust land to which the public has access on foot only – either by right (in the case of designated ‘Access Land’ under the Countryside (Rights of Way) Act 2000 (CRoW)) or by permission from the National Trust.</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/open-access-land-management-rights-and-responsibilities" target="_blank">Rights over Access Land are limited by CRoW</a> and may be further restricted or excluded due to particular land management reasons.</p><p>In general individuals <b>can</b> use Always Open land for:</p><ul><li>walking</li><li>running</li><li>watching wildlife</li><li>climbing. </li></ul><p>Unless otherwise indicated individuals <b>cannot</b> use Always Open land for:</p><ul><li>horse riding</li><li>cycling</li><li>camping</li><li>taking animals other than dogs onto the land</li><li>driving a vehicle (except mobility scooters)</li><li>water sports</li><li>flying drones.</li></ul><p>Footpaths and bridleways may cross areas of Always Open land - the Always Open designation does not impact upon this access.</p><p>Data has been captured at approximately 1:50,000 scale and as such is not intended to show detailed ownership boundaries.<br /></p><p>Areas shown as Always Open may contain areas of 'excepted land' such as buildings, gardens and cropped fields.
