The government require each local planning authority in England to prepare, maintain and publish a register of previously developed (brownfield) land suitable for housing.
The purpose of the registers is to provide up-to-date and consistent information on sites that local authorities consider appropriate for residential development.
Please note that the South Lakeland District Council register only covers the planning area the council is responsible for outside of the national Parks. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities will be publishing their own registers.
