Dataset description

Special Protection Areas where condition 5 on General Licences GL40, GL41, GL42 applies. In these areas, licence users may carry out general licence activity provided that they do not disturb the bird species listed under condition 5 on the general licences. From 1 January 2021, changes are being introduced to how you can use some of the General Licences for killing or taking certain wild birds to address problems caused by these birds. If you need to carry out any licensable actions on land covered, and you cannot comply with condition 5 on GL 40, 41 or 42 then you will need to apply to Natural England for an individual licence. General licences are not a consent for the purposes of Part 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) in respect of SSSIs so it is your responsibility to get consent or assent if required before a licence can be used on any SSSI irrespective of whether it is covered by this condition. The data are intended for use only as a guide to help identify sites affected by a condition in general licences GL40, GL41 and GL42, issued by Defra for 2021. They should not be relied on to indicate details of protected sites (this includes their designation, extent or features). The data are intended to be used in conjunction with the licence advice and other relevant information. Data currently only available on Defra MAGIC Web Mapping application.
